Novice Women

Novice rowing is the way to get into rowing for the first time. As well as learning a new sport, increasing fitness levels and meeting new people, it is also an opportunity to be part of Edinburgh University Boat Club, one of the biggest, oldest and most prestigious clubs at Edinburgh University. In the past Edinburgh have had very succesful novice women rowing squads- last academic year winning BUCS regatta in the beginner IVs. The squad will begin completely unable to row and transform into a squad of rowers who can challenge other university squads at various competitions throughout the year. A lot can be learned in 1 year!

Training is varied- on the water, circuits, CV training- running/bike, and group Erg (rowing machine) training sessions. Rowing is a fantastic sport to challenge your fitness levels, push yourself to new limits and improve alongside a great squad of other novices. We will start with a few training sessions per week and increase the training as the squad improves and we look toward races. There are also regular socials with interesting themes- providing a way of letting loose after a week of hard training. The novice women’s squad is open to students of all ages, fitness levels, courses and backgrounds. We are looking for enthusiastic, committed and competitive people who can work well as part of a team.

For any information do not hesitate to contact the squad Captain- Emma Bhatti.
